July Update

Hey everyone.
 
I have been mad busy recently, as the album and promo really get going. I am about half way through the vocals for the new album now. I am so excited about it. It has some real magic about it, some crazy high notes and really lovely interpretations of amazing songs. It won't be too long now till I get to hear them with the orchestra mixed in too, as we are off to Prague this weekend and early next week to record them. That is when the magic really starts to come together! I love sitting there and hearing them playing on my album. It's a huge buzz and it may be possible to record live with them at the studio over there. Which is really awesome, to be able to lay a track down like that is a really exciting way of capturing a moment.
 
I am going to be busy with a lot of live shows soon too. I am hopefully going to see a few familiar faces as I travel around for the summer proms show and also The Night at the Opera tour in Oct/Nov. But a new addition to the diary is my role as Nanki Poo in the Carl Rosa opera company's production of the Mikado. I am playing in their Richmond and Birmingham shows in Sept. So if you would like to see me in a way you have never seen me before then that's where you should head. I will be in a mad costume make up and I am sure a few dance steps thrown in for good measure.
 
I have just done a photo shoot last week for the album and campaign artwork. I will be looking at the contact sheets tomorrow. So let's hope that I like them! It was a really good day of shooting. And I am sure that you will be pleased to hear that I have my normal hair style back. No heavy gel this time, pheww.

Great to see that blog and good to know that the 'normal hair' will be resumed as soon as possible !!!!!

All sounds so exciting and I reckon he'll be getting called 'Nanki-Poo' after his Mikado performance !   Like the 'if you would like to see me in a way you have never seen me before then that's where you should head' - we're already on our way Jonathan - a good few weeks back !!

Great to read the new blog.  Lots of info in there (although we already knew most of it )

Prague should be great.  What a lovely place to go and do the rest of the album.

    Good point.  He won't be able to look us lot in the eye, that's for sure!!

Well I doubt a lot of us will be able to contain ANYTHING never mind our giggles, So no doubt he'll erupt at some point,

With a few dance moves chucked into the equation, It's one NOT to be missed. Hoe special.

Very true Jules and the dance moves ............... well, what can one say after the 'G4 walk' !!

Not a lot Cathy LOL took him four years to master that to perection lol

but what with dance moves for Mikado to master, Not sure he could master the ice as well LOL. He'll be too busy practising them ones on terra firma any chance he gets, HAHA

How wonderful - the sound of crazy high notes and lovely interpretations of amazing songs excites me hugely!

And how fabulous to be going to Prague to record - that's wonderful for him - so inspirational to sing beautiful music in a beautiful place. Fingers crossed we get another song sung live with the orchestra for this album - like Che Gelida Manina.  

Bless his heart re his hair on the album cover. He couldnt look anything less than gorgeous ever - and he looked very handsome on the Tenor at the Movies album cover - but I am pleased that this album will have him looking more as he normally does. 

It's brilliant that things are going so well for him - and he is so busy.

I'm devastated I wont see him play Nanki poo in the Mikado - but I'm over the moon for him that he is doing it - and hopefully it will be just the first of many such musicals etc and I will be with him in spirit if not in body!

Off to Prague eh...you go Jon, but don't forget to come back now, we need to see these 'dance moves' you're promising us, personally I can't wait to see them myself too!! And the custume(s) they are making you wear too!!Just wondering Jon,  if you ARE reading all that's been said on the forums etc. re: the 'gelled' hairstyle, It was appropiate for the last album...but we want to see the style you are sporting at present (saying that I hope it's not short back and sides now)

Great to see him blogging again - Wonder if he is going to do a bit of Mozart perhaps with the Prague Symphony Orchestra - as there is a lot of him about in Prague but the main thing is not to be taken on a pub crawl with a strange blue local concoction called Becherovka - it is quite lethal

Well the photographer couldn't have a better subject as we well know - if they can't get an amazing pic of Jonathan they need to go back to photography school!  This time everyone should recognise him - yes there were people who didn't.

It was exciting just reading the 'crazy high notes'   and how great to be in that Prague studio listening to the voice and orchestra combining - hope he gets to sing live with them.  Hope it won't be long till we get a taster of the new album.

One of the lucky one's going to see the Mikado in Birmingham and like you say Molly lot of people who can't make it will be there in spirit.   Sure he will do the Carl Rosa Opera Company proud and be invited back for future opera perfomances - maybe La Boheme one day - how amazing would that be.

Thank you for putting up the blog Jules, It all sounds so wonderful, and going to Prague,   made me smile re the hair ,thank goodness it will be his normal style,

Was looking forward to the Mikado,but even more so now,  what with costumes and dance moves,

 Oh loving the sound of Jonathans new album -Jonathan sounds very excited about The Mikado which is brilliant -stage performance will be a new development for Jonathan and i'm sure you will all do him proud and encourage him .

Getting to record in Prague -lucky Jonathan so glad he has reassured about the hair -sorry Universal but the gelled look cover pic from TATM has always been one of my least faves -so glad it will be a more natural look this time ..should look brilliant on store shelves .
