    Russell Watson

I've just found out that Russell has recently announced a concert tour this summer.  What fantastic news after overcoming such serious health problems.  He must be feeling so much better.  I've been a follower of Russell's since his very first album quite some years ago, but have never seen him perform, so this year I've treated myself to a couple of tickets!

I am sure you will have a wonderful time! I nearly booked 4th row tickets for Glasgow, but had just booked my Leonard Cohen tickets so changed my mind. I am also trying to keep some holidays free for Jonathan. Big Smile

I saw this being advertised last week and my first thought was ' is this too soon?' after all we know that you need to be really fit to tour and he has only just finished chemo?  Hope that he is not being pushed or pushing himself too far too soon??

I saw it on ClassicalX site too Di and thought it was a bit soon - just hope he's feeling fit enough as it is a bit gruelling doing a tour

I think it's amazing even considering a tour so early on but good on him and I hope he takes it at a steady pace. He has gone through so much it would be a shame to have a set back. I am sure he has been given loads of advice from his doctors and hope he sticks to it.

    Good luck Russell!

I would just like to point out that Russell hasn't just finished chemo, it was radiotherapy, and he completed the course at the beginning of February.  I'm sure he wouldn't be doing anything he didn't want to do.

Good luck to Russell - I hope it all goes well for him.

I hope he will be careful not to push things - it does seem very soon after such a serious illness - but I guess he will be getting good advice from his specialists etc.

He does have a fabulous voice. I was making myself some compilation cds yesterday - and I had to include a couple of his.

It's not a massive tour - 13 dates in total with always a day or two between each venue.  I was reading on his site that Russell is really eager to look forward again now, and has started a very carefully supervised training programme to build up his strength again before the tour.  He has certainly been through the mill these last few years so here's hoping all works out for him now.

I found it odd that he was touring so quickly after his illness. I have tickets booked to see him this year. Exciting! It'll be the third time I've seen him!

Just in case anyone is interested, Russell is being interviewed in a half hour long special by Trevor McDonald on the Tonight programme tomorrow at 8.00 p.m. (Friday, 30th May).

    Thanks for the reminder Christine.

I'm planning to watch this documentary - and hopefully get the book he is bringing out - probably for Christmas. Smile
