To be honest I don't think anyone knows about this tour yet outside a few internet forums and websites -and a few small newspaper ad's is not enough ...even this website has no separate section promoting the tour and really it should have ..

Jonathan has to get out and about and tell people about this tour and show what they can expect by letting them hear him it's as simple as that.Smile

The tour is ages away but at the same time the summer will fly by before we know it and Universal just need to get this tour promoted.Said it before though and i'll say it again i'm sure there must be good promo coming -if there was no summer promo coming i'm sure Universal would not have announced the tour. Smile

Wishing they would change the poster though-i'm not liking it at all really.I just think any of the other pics in the gallery would be far better for the poster if the TATM pics need to be used (i'd prefer pics without Jonathan in the Tenor at the movies image if it was at all possible) and i'd have much preferred a more casual/modern look to the poster ..after all it's a young tenor in concert so his tour should have a modern poster to fit his "young talent" image?

Wish Universal would reconsider that poster ..

The tour is nothing to do with Universal as far as I know, it's up to the promoters Flying Music and Jonathan's management to get their fingers out and get promoting it.  Universal will update the site with details as and when they are given them - if the promoters want a separate section on the home page then I guess it's up to them to ask for it, same with a mailshot (which we haven't had yet Confused).

Promo needs to happen soon and lots of it - a few random newspaper ads is nowhere near enough, they need to get Jonathan out there talking about it, local radio, TV, magazine interviews etc.  Just hope we get news of something soon Hmm

Oh right it's management and a separate promoter responsible for the tour ..I never knew that ..thanks Willowy and you're right they need to be asking for a decent tour feature on the official site.Smile

The delay between the tour being announced and the promo starting is not a problem as long as there is promo coming soon ..we really need to start seeing some decent promotional activity over the summer as you say -thats what will really raise awareness .Surely we can trust the promoters and Shalit Global to come good -after all SG did pretty good with the TATM promo.

Well, fan promo started at the Brits as I had on my T-shirt and the promoter took a fancy to it !!!!! Wink

I do tend to wear my T-shirt out and about in my area - to the supermarket and around town.  When travelling - through AIrports and Train Stations and had a woman at Glasgow Airport follow me off the plane to ask about it too and even had some enquiries from Staff at Glasgow Airport when checking in etc !!!! Big Smile

Marian had on a T-shirt on Thursday at the showcase Big Smile

Well it looks like you are doing more than any one else Wink

So lets give a bit of thought about what they are going to do

    Target Audience

People who have bought the album?  Which I guess is why they have used this image - but we had the Classical Brits and JA said precious little about the tour so that was a bit of a lost opportunity and the mess up with timing of ticket sales was also a bit way off

We have done our usual thing of publicising the dates with links on this forum and at the least UCJ could put a link to that thread on the News page but there is no optimisation done so if anyone did search they will first get J-A.co.uk which you have to join to get any details, then DS Interview which does not give details, then eventually this forum but not the OS at all.  And when you get to a ticket agent it is only 2 gigs that are selling thru an online agent.  Flying Music is at the bottom of the page but details should go to the OS.

First at the very least I would hope that asap the promoters will take out some AdWord ads thru Google on 'Jonathan Ansell' to take people to a special page on the OS which has a unique URL - as at the moment it is not possible to get a direct link because of the design of the site.  This should be a no brainer.

Then from here on in JA must mention it at every opportunity - it was not done last week.  But if he does there must be a link on the OS first page rather than just in news

Second - email shot to the people on the mailing list - and the UCJ mailing list - I got ABs so again no brainer

Third - as has been mentioned already - if they still have a deal with Sony - email the G4 mailing list but I expect a lot of that bounced

Fourth - the theatres will be publicising thru their standard methods locally but there should be flyers somewhere available

Lastly flyers can be circulated to us to spread out at the outdoor concerts

Dates will be put into the new album sleeve and I am sure that it will be mentioned at all associated promo but they are missing some opportunities now by not having an optimisable page and not having flyers Huh?

They may of course feel that with all the current financial problems that it is not worth doing much until September but as they are placing ads they really should be doing the web stuff at the same time as people need to see these things frequently in different places to have the desired effect.

Sure people can come up with some even more imaginative ideas given half a chance Wink I can think of quite a few but am not going to put them up here as we know all sorts of new ideas get nicked by other people ....

You should contact Jonathan's myspace with your ideas Di -hopefully Jonathan reads his messages and can make any suggestions you have that he likes the idea of .Smile

I have often wondered why Jonathan is not using Google adwords Di -he really should be -i've no idea how expensive it is but surely it would pay for itself many times over in raising Jonathan's profile.I've lost count of the many times i've seen Teatro's google ad .. it just seems such a simple and effective way to promote a artist and one that surely would be excellent and profile raising for Jonathan. After all if internet surfers see a Google adword saying how fab Jonathan is and all about his tour ..if they see that promotional adword often enough many will get curious and take a look ..and how could that be anything but good?

just seems good advertising to me Smile.
